As a martial artist instructor, exercising and constant practice are key parts of successful training. Yet despite all of the activity involved with the martial arts, the differences between cardiovascular workouts which lead to weight loss, and the former can be quite significant depending on the type of martial art one practices. Many people begin a running or jogging program with the expressed goal of losing weight. This was the case for me. And while any sort of vigorous exercise - running included - will help people to burn calories and lose weight, many people find it difficult to stick to an exercise program if the only benefit is on the bathroom scale.

The glow and resulting energy you experience from those lost pounds can quickly wear off if the sweat and labor to lose that weight is not enjoyable or worse simply boring. The trick to it is to find an activity or sport that you actually enjoy, and not worry so much about the weight loss. So, how can you make running fun?

On one level, you cannot. If you simply do not like running or jogging, there is not much that you can do to force yourself to like it. If the time you spend pounding the pavement is that unpleasant for you, the best bet is simply to find another sport's activity - otherwise, you may simply will not be able to stick with it. It is very easy to fall away from the things we enjoy least.

But if you do enjoy jogging, one way to make it more fun is to get off the treadmill. Many people find the convenience of the treadmill gives them more time to run, but often, staying in one place as you run, jog, or even walk can be a little boring.

Venturing out into the "real" world so to speak to run can offer variety and refreshment that you simply cannot experience in a gym. You can vary your routes to see new places, stop off at that popular coffee shop you love, or incorporate some hills in order to make the workout a little bit harder.

Another way to make running more fun is to find someone to run with. Sure, you can plug into your iPod as you run or even read a book if you have enough balance, but there is something about having someone to push you through your walls, and chat with as you coast, help to make the miles fly by, and before you know it, you'll be back home again, and looking forward to your next run.

So, unless you are a woman who already has a hefty amount of testosterone in her system, or are planning to ingest the hormone supplements, there is really no chance that you gain huge muscles just by muscle building.  Thin muscles burn more calories.  Loosing fat is never this easy for women.  While lessening fat, it is equally important to have muscle resistance which really helps a lot in building muscle mass.  Your weighing machine might not show a significant reduction in numbers, but you will definitely acquire a leaner, slimmer body.  More muscle mass means healthier than more fat weight.
